LESSON 4: Logical Mind Map On Mortar & Pestle

What Is Mortar & Pestle

A mortar and pestle is a tool used to crush, grind, and mix solid substances (trituration). The pestle is a heavy bat-shaped object, the end of which is used for crushing and grinding. The mortar is a bowl, typically made of hard wood, marble, clay, or stone. The substance to be ground is place
d in the mortar and ground, crushed or mixed with the pestle.

Class Exercise

We were given an interesting exercise during the lesson. In this exercise, we have to choose three words from the mind map done by lecturer about the mortar and pestle then imagine how people using that things in future. :)

Here are mind map for what i think about the mortar and pestle.

LESSON 3 : LOGICAL MIND MAP

The Definition of Mind Mapping

The Mind Map is an expression of Radiant Thinking and is therefore a natural function of the human mind. It is a powerful graphic technique which provides a universal key to unlocking the potential of the brain. The Mind Map can be applied to every aspect of life where improved learning and clearer thinking will enhance human performance. The Mind Map has four essential characteristics:

  • The subject of attention is crystallization in a central image.
  • The main themes of the subject radiate from the central image on branches.
  • Branches hold a key image/word printed on the associated line - details radiate out.
  • The branches form a connected nodal structure.

And here i show my own mind map "About Me" :)

My Experience In Doing Mind Map:

In the process of producing a creative mind map is not easy. We need a lot of ideas and creativity to create an interesting mind map and also understandable. When i doing the mind map "About Me" i took the time in half an hour to think about the design and what the point i should inter into the mind map.

LESSON 2 : Novelty, Creativity, Innovation, & Invention

"Defining Of Novelty, Creativity, Innovation, & Invention"

"Novelty"
Novelty (derived from Latin word novus for "new") is the quality of being new. Although it may be said to have an objective dimension (e.g. a new style of art coming into being, such as abstract art or impressionism) it essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals.
It also refers to something novel; that which is striking, original or unusual. The term can have pejorative sense and refer to a mere innovation.

"Creativity"
Creativity is the ability to generate innovative ideas and manifest them from thought into reality. The process involves original thinking and then producing. The process of creation was historically reserved for deities creating "from nothing" in Creationism and other creation myths. Over time, the term creativity came to include human innovation, especially in art and science and led to the emergence of the creative class.

"Innovation"
Innovation is a change in the thought process for doing something or "new stuff that is made useful". It may refer to an incremental emergent or radical and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations. Following Schumpeter (1934), contributors to the scholarly literature on innovation typically distinguish between invention, an idea made manifest, and innovation, ideas applied successfully in practice. In many fields, such as the arts, economics and government policy, something new must be substantially different to be innovative. In economics the change must increase value, customer value, or producer value. The goal of innovation is positive change, to make someone or something better. Innovation leading to increased productivity is the fundamental source of increasing wealth in an economy.

"Invention"

An invention is a new composition, device, or process. An invention may be derived from a pre-existing model or idea, or it could be independently conceived in which case it may be a radical breakthrough. In addition, there is cultural invention, which is an innovative set of useful social behaviors adopted by people and passed on to others. Inventions often extend the boundaries of human knowledge or experience. An invention that is novel and not obvious to others skilled in the same field may be able to obtain the legal protection of a patent.

LESSON 1: Defining Creativity

"Defining Creativity"

In general, "Creativity" is a mental process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the existing ideas or concepts, fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight.

cited from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creativity

For my opinion, creativity is the ability possessed by a person to generate new ideasto produce and create something new. Besides, with new ideas we can easily solve the problem without confusing our head...:)
